At the heart of the neighborhood lies the Athens Central Court, flanked by a spacious park. The neighborhood’s name derives from the Byzantine-era name “Gizi.” It is a neighborhood with a rich history spanning hundreds of years and is known for its traditional taverns serving authentic Greek cuisine. It has quite a few cafes and bars and is a popular destination for Athens’ nightlife.

Gyzi, one of Athens’ neighborhoods, boasts a central square (Plateia Gyzi) that serves as the neighborhood’s heart; some might see a resemblance between it and Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv.
